Parkour UK signs a letter to The Times on the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill

Parkour UK has signed a letter, published in The Times on 16th July, coordinated by Play England & Play Wales to voice our concerns over the proposals to alter the definition of ‘anti-social behaviour’.

The proposed legislation contradict’s the United Nations Article 31 (Leisure, play and culture): Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities. Rather than tackling the root issue of anti-social behaviour, this may serve as another barrier stopping children/young people from engaging in recreational activities outdoors, the park or other public spaces, further jeopardising the physical and mental health of children/young people.

Coatbridge Parkour Park – Second phase of development

Parkour UK affiliate Coatbridge Parkour & partners Freemove  look to further develop the Coatbridge Parkour Park with a second phase of development.

They’ve just received the plans for the second phase, with the new structures providing additional obstacles & variety to the existing park. The brown sections in the drawing are the existing structures, everything else will be added when building work begins. Once the second phase is complete it will become a similar size to LEAP Parkour Park.

Needless to say that the team at Coatbridge Parkour are excited by the designs. This will be a valued addition to the existing park, but also a significant development for Parkour facilities in Scotland.

GREAT WORK! #ParkourInspiringAGeneration

Coatbridge Parkour Secure £9000

Affiliate Coatbridge Parkour recently travelled to the BBC studios in Glasgow to accept a grant of £9,000 from Children in Need presented by Judith Ralston!

The grant will help Coatbridge Parkour expand into new areas, open new classes and deliver outdoor workshops, performances and events.  The funding is to be used to purchase some Freemove equipment and a demo kit, including – pop up banners, table, flyers & gazebo for getting out into the community and running outdoor events in partnership with the local council. In addition to expanding their provision out of Coatbridge and into new areas like Cumbernauld, Motherwell and Hamilton.

Coatbridge Parkour expressed their thanks to Children in Need staff for their support, especially Pudsey!
