With the launch of our Level 4 Master Coach and Coach Educator qualification Parkour UK are excited to offer 2 female coaching scholarships, each equivalent to the value of £2450.00. This qualification and scholarship helps develop leading female figures within the parkour community.
In this piece we meet one of the recipients of the female scholarship programme.
Tell us about yourself - Who are you, where are you based, and how long have you been training and coaching?
Hello, my name is Georgia and I am based in Southeast London. I’ve been practicing parkour since 2011, and I have been coaching since 2019. I am also part of the London female parkour collective FemGaps.
How did you find out about the female scholarship programme?
I saw the female scholarship programme on Instagram, and it was also sent to me by a member of the Parkour UK team. As I read through it, I was really interested in applying. I had been thinking about applying for a similar course as a coach educator for personal trainers, so this came at the perfect time, and I applied right away.
Over the last two years I have been working on creating a more sustainable coaching business for myself so that I can continue to work with parkour long into the future without burning out or having to live with a constantly inconsistent income. I have now achieved this through a combination of online and in-person coaching, and I am excited to share this with more people and support young coaches as they navigate their first jobs in the industry.
Not only am I very passionate about parkour, but I also believe my style of coaching and my calm, but confident personality will suit itself well to leading a coach educator course. And personally I am very excited to step outside of my comfort zone and develop further knowledge.
What excites your most about the female scholarship programme, and the Level 4 Master Coach qualification?
I am excited to grow as a coach, leader, and communicator. I am excited to learn from our course tutors and other coaches about the best ways to deliver these courses in order to help newer coaches feel confident stepping into their first roles teaching parkour.
Following the course, I am very keen to get stuck into coaching coaches as soon as possible as I think this will really help me grow as a communicator and leader. I’m also excited to inspire more teachers and coaches to give parkour a go!
