Stephen Mitchell

Independent Chair

Stephen currently works for himself advising, consulting and supporting sporting organisations around initiatives related to people and learning. Having previously worked for SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure, Learning and Well-being for 9 years, Stephen is a huge advocate of all things learning and development, and restricts his new business links to working with organisations who want to invest in their people through stronger recruitment, retention and talent development initiatives. Some of Stephen’s current clients include StreetGames the West Ham United Foundation, Thomas International Sport, the Premier Education Group and Creative Sport and Leisure Limited. Stephen also sits on the Board the County Sports Partnership for Essex – Active Essex – and chairs the local Active Network for Basildon. Alongside the Parkour role, these 2 voluntary positions ensure Steve keeps a hand in with front line delivery of sport and physical activity programmes. Steve was originally born and raised in Coventry and studied Sports Science (with rugby!) at Loughborough University. A retired rugby player, Stephen is a firm believer in the power of sport and the role it can play in changing lives – particularly of our future generations.
